{"id":81612,"date":"2026-01-08T13:42:36","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T08:12:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=81612"},"modified":"2026-01-08T13:57:43","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T08:27:43","slug":"national-quality-assurance-standards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-quality-assurance-standards\/","title":{"rendered":"National Quality Assurance Standards"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>National Quality Assurance Standards Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, a total of 50,373 public health facilities across all States and Union Territories have been certified under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About National Quality Assurance Standards<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a comprehensive quality framework established by the <\/span><b>Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is aimed at ensuring and enhancing the <\/span><b>quality of healthcare services<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> provided at public health facilities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>NQAS began in 2015<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with just <\/span><b>10 certified healthcare facilities.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">initially focusing on <\/span><b>District Hospitals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to ensure safe, patient-centric, and quality-assured services.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NQAS are currently available for <\/span><b>District Hospitals, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sub-District Hospitals, Community Health <\/span><b>Centres, Ayushman Arogya Mandir<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013PHCs, AAM\u2013UPHCs, and AAM\u2013Sub Health Centres.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Purpose:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> These standards are primarily meant for <\/span><b>providers to assess their own quality<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for improvement through pre-defined standards and to bring up their facilities for certification.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are broadly arranged under <\/span><b>8 &#8220;Areas of Concern&#8221; namely;<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Service Provision, Patient Rights, Inputs, Support Services, Clinical Care, Infection Control, Quality Management and Outcome<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2212094&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>National Quality Assurance Standards is a comprehensive quality framework established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).
