{"id":82005,"date":"2026-01-11T13:07:52","date_gmt":"2026-01-11T07:37:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=82005"},"modified":"2026-01-12T15:40:22","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T10:10:22","slug":"narco-coordination-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/narco-coordination-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Narco-Coordination Centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Narco-Coordination Centre Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the union Home Minister chaired the 9th Apex-Level Meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Narco-Coordination Centre<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> mechanism was <\/span><b>established in 2016 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for better coordination <\/span><b>between states and the Ministry of Home Affairs.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been further strengthened through a <\/span><b>four-tier system in 2019.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Purpose:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To enhance <\/span><b>coordination between the States,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Ministry of Home Affairs and concerned stakeholders in addressing the <\/span><b>challenge of the drug menace<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in a holistic manner.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is designed to <\/span><b>facilitate better communication<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, cooperation, and intelligence sharing among law enforcement and drug control agencies.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Structure of Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD)<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Apex Level NCORD Committee<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, headed by Union Home Secretary;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Executive Level NCORD Committee<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, headed by Special Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>State Level NCORD Committees<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, headed by Chief Secretaries; and\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>District Level NCORD Committees<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 headed by District Magistrates<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Initiatives linked to NCORD<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>NCORD portal<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been launched as an effective mechanism for information exchange between various institutions\/agencies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A toll-free helpline called <\/span><b>MANAS (Madak Padarth Nishedh Asuchna Kendra<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) with the number 1933 has been launched.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2213104&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Narco-Coordination Centre mechanism was established in 2016 for better coordination between states and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
