{"id":83195,"date":"2026-01-19T13:18:17","date_gmt":"2026-01-19T07:48:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=83195"},"modified":"2026-01-20T16:41:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T11:11:12","slug":"icgs-sankalp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/icgs-sankalp\/","title":{"rendered":"ICGS Sankalp"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>ICGS Sankalp Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Sankalp visited Port Louis in Mauritius as part of overseas deployment in the Indian Ocean Region.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About ICGS Sankalp<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ICGS Sankalp is an <\/span><b>offshore patrol vessel<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which was <\/span><b>commissioned in 2008<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The vessel is indigenously built by the <\/span><b>Goa Shipyard Limited<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is equipped with state-of-the-art <\/span><b>navigation and communication equipment.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Functions:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is designed primarily for extended <\/span><b>maritime surveillance, exclusive economic zone<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (EEZ) protection, search and rescue operations, and enforcement of maritime laws within India&#8217;s vast oceanic domains.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Features of ICGS Sankalp<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ship is 105-meter-long with an endurance<\/span><b> of 6,500 nautical miles.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Capacity:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It has displacement capacity of <\/span><b>approximately 2,325 tonnes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at full load.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It consists of <\/span><b>HAL Chetak rotary-wing aircraft<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for enhanced aerial surveillance and SAR.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Armaments:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is equipped with primary armament consisting of <\/span><b>two 30 mm CRN-91 twin-barrel naval guns<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, designed for surface engagement and controlled by an integrated fire control system.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is also fitted with davits to deploy up to five <\/span><b>high-speed interceptor boats.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ddnews.gov.in\/en\/icgs-sankalp-reaches-mauritius-to-strengthen-maritime-cooperation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">DD News<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ICGS Sankalp is an offshore patrol vessel which was commissioned in 2008.
