{"id":83396,"date":"2026-01-20T12:54:26","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T07:24:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=83396"},"modified":"2026-01-20T16:37:04","modified_gmt":"2026-01-20T11:07:04","slug":"india-international-conference-on-democracy-and-election-management-iicdem-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/india-international-conference-on-democracy-and-election-management-iicdem-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM) 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM) 2026 Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Election Commission of India (ECI) will host the inaugural India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM) 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in the national capital.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM) 2026<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>3-day conference<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>starting <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on the <\/span><b>21st of January,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be held at <\/span><b>Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is being <\/span><b>organised by the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM) under the aegis of the <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Election Commission of India <\/span><b>(ECI).\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IICDEM 2026 is poised to be the<\/span><b> largest global conference of its kind hosted by India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the <\/span><b>field of democracy and election management.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nearly 100 international <\/span><b>delegates, representing over 70 countries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from across the world, are expected to participate.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Representatives of international organisations, foreign missions in India, and academic and practicing experts in the electoral domain will also take part.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The programme will feature a mix of general and plenary <\/span><b>sessions of Election Management Bodies (EMBs).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These discussions will focus on global electoral challenges, international electoral standards, and innovations and best practices in election processes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As part of the conference, <\/span><b>36 thematic groups<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will conduct detailed deliberations.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These groups will be<\/span><b> led by Chief Electoral Officers of States and Union Territories <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and supported by national and international academic experts.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the event, the<\/span><b> ECI will also formally launch ECINET, ECI\u2019s one-stop digital platform for all election-related information and services.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An <\/span><b>exhibition <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">highlighting the scale and complexity of conducting elections in India will run alongside the conference.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The exhibition will also <\/span><b>showcase recent initiatives <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">undertaken<\/span><b> by the ECI <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to strengthen electoral roll preparation and the conduct of elections.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, the <\/span><b>docuseries \u201cIndia Decides\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which documents the conduct of the <\/span><b>Lok Sabha 2024 elections, will be screened<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the opening day of IICDEM 2026.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Key Facts about India International Institute of Democracy &amp; Election Management (IIIDEM)<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IIIDEM is the <\/span><b>dedicated training, academic &amp; resource arm of the <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Election Commission of India (ECI).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Established <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in <\/span><b>2011<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the Institute was conceived to <\/span><b>train, prepare, and equip election officials and other stakeholders<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for delivery of free, fair, credible, and error-free elections.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a global knowledge and capacity-building centre dedicated to advancing democratic governance and strengthening electoral integrity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IIIDEM is one of the few institutions in the world which is not only involved in the training and capacity building of its electoral officials, but <\/span><b>also caters to the requirements of Election Management Bodies (EMBs) the world over.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IIIDEM has a team of senior experts and professionals to run its <\/span><b>academic and research programmes.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It holds<\/span><b> domestic and international courses and training programmes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that are residential and non-residential.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier, the IIIDEM was housed in the premises of the ECI.
