{"id":8345,"date":"2023-04-07T12:41:06","date_gmt":"2023-04-07T07:11:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=8345"},"modified":"2025-03-29T02:28:17","modified_gmt":"2025-03-28T20:58:17","slug":"madh-island","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/madh-island\/","title":{"rendered":"Madh Island"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Madh Island:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an island located in Malad west, in the <strong>western suburbs of Mumbai, Maharashtra.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It consists of several <strong>fishing villages and farmlands <\/strong>bounded by <strong>Arabian sea to the west <\/strong>and <strong>Malad creek to the east<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Over the years, Madh has evolved from a group of fishing villages to a <strong>prominent residential and holiday destination.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It also <strong>houses<\/strong> <strong>Airforce and Naval stations.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is primarily i<strong>nhabited by Kolis, Marathis,<\/strong> and <strong>Roman Catholics.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It also has an old Fort, <strong>Madh Fort<\/strong> and a 16th century <strong>Portuguese Church \u2013 St. Bonaventure.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\u2018<strong>Erangal<\/strong>\u2019 is a picturesque <strong>village <\/strong>on Madh island which<strong> is a popular filming location.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What is the National Green Tribunal (NGT)?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It has been established <strong>under the National Green Tribunal Act 2010<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mandate<\/strong>: Effective and expeditious<strong> disposal of cases relating to environmental protection and conservation<\/strong> of forests and other natural resources.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Composition<\/strong>: It comprises the <strong>Chairperson, the Judicial Members, and Expert Members<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The Tribunal is <strong>not bound by <\/strong>the procedure laid down under the <strong>Code of Civil Procedure, 1908,<\/strong> but shall be <strong>guided by principles of natural justice.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>New Delhi is the Principal Place of Sitting <\/strong>of the Tribunal and Bhopal, Pune, Kolkata and Chennai shall be the other four places of sitting of the Tribunal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1)\u00a0Where is Madh Fort located?<\/h3>\n<p>Madh Fort is a small fort in northern Mumbai, India situated at Madh Island. It was built by the Portuguese in Portuguese occupied India.
