{"id":8393,"date":"2024-07-23T04:31:46","date_gmt":"2024-07-22T23:01:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=8393"},"modified":"2025-03-29T02:45:56","modified_gmt":"2025-03-28T21:15:56","slug":"national-mission-for-cultural-mapping","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-mission-for-cultural-mapping\/","title":{"rendered":"National Mission for Cultural Mapping"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About National Mission on Cultural Mapping (NMCM):<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a scheme administered by the <strong>Ministry of Culture<\/strong>, Government of India.<\/li>\n<li>It was conceptualized for the purpose of developing a<strong> comprehensive data base ofartists, art forms,<\/strong> and other resources <strong>gathered from cultural organizations<\/strong> in the <strong>Ministry of Culture, other Ministries,and also States on a robust IT-enabled platform<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The aims and objectives<\/strong> of the Project are as under:\n<ul>\n<li>To <strong>create awareness <\/strong>about the strengths of cultural heritage and its interface with development and cultural identity.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cultural mapping of 6.5 lakh villages<\/strong> along with their geographical, demographic profiles, and creative capitals.<\/li>\n<li>Creation of <strong>National Registers of Artists and Art practices.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Development of a <strong>web portal and mobile app<\/strong> to <strong>function as a National Cultural Work Place (NCWP).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The project <strong>aims to cover all the inhabited villages<\/strong> of India, which are <strong>marked as \u2018village\u2019,in the Census List, 2011<\/strong> published by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>databaseof the project<\/strong> is acce<strong>ssible through the Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar Web Portal<\/strong> (https:\/\/mgmd.gov.in\/).<\/li>\n<li>It can be <strong>used effectively by any government ministry or other government organization<\/strong> to safeguard and promote the cultures, traditions, art forms, and other cultural identities of the identified villages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is the Scheme for Safeguarding the Intangible Heritage and Diverse Cultural Traditions of India?<\/h3>\n<p>It is a scheme formulated by the Ministry of Culture with the objective of reinvigorating and revitalizing various institutions, groups, individuals, identified non-MOC institutions, non-Government organizations, researchers and scholars so that they may engage in activities\/ projects for strengthening, protecting, preserving and promoting the rich Intangible Cultural Heritage of India.
