{"id":8413,"date":"2024-07-29T01:33:45","date_gmt":"2024-07-28T20:03:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=8413"},"modified":"2025-03-29T02:53:01","modified_gmt":"2025-03-28T21:23:01","slug":"what-is-juice-jupiter-icy-moon-explorer-mission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-juice-jupiter-icy-moon-explorer-mission\/","title":{"rendered":"Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>EuropeanSpace Agency<\/strong> (ESA) mission to explore <strong>Jupiter<\/strong> and three of its icy moons: <strong>Europa, Call is to and Ganymede.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Objective:<\/strong> The probe aims to explore the possibilities of life in space and the origins of Jupiter.<\/li>\n<li>It will monitor Jupiter\u2019s complex magnetic, radiation, and plasma environment in depth and its interplay with the moons.<\/li>\n<li>Approximately four years after its arrival at the Jupiter system, JUICE will move into orbit around the gas giant&#8217;s largest moon, Ganymede, to conduct the most extensive exploration of this body, which is larger than the solar system&#8217;s smallest planet, Mercury.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It will become the first probe to orbit a planetary moon other than Earth&#8217;s.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It has been fuelled with <strong>mono-methyl hydrazine<\/strong> (MMH) fuel and mixed oxides of nitrogen (MON) oxidizer, which ignites when the two come in contact. Juice will use this propellant to make critical course manoeuvres on its journey.<\/li>\n<li>It will be packed with 10 instruments and will characterize Jupiter\u2019s ocean-bearing icy moons.<\/li>\n<li>It will be launched onboard the Ariane-5 rocket, a workhorse for the European Space Agency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is Plasma?<\/h3>\n<p>It is a state of matter along with solids, liquids and gases. When a neutral gas is heated such that some of the electrons are freed from the atoms or molecules, it changes state and becomes a plasma.
