Programme-specific indicators have been included this year to track outcomes and impacts of state-level energy efficiency initiatives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Key highlights of the report:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>5 states &#8211; Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan and Telangana &#8211; are in the <strong>Front Runner category<\/strong> (&gt;60 points)<\/li>\n<li>4 states &#8211; Assam, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Punjab &#8211; are in the <strong>Achiever category<\/strong> (50-60 points).<\/li>\n<li>Further, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Chandigarh are the top-performing states in their respective state groups.<\/li>\n<li>Telangana and Andhra Pradesh showed the most improvement since the last index.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Key points about the Bureau of Energy Efficiency<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It was set up on 1st March 2002 under the provisions of <strong>the Energy Conservation Act, 2001.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Objective:<\/strong> The primary objective of reducing the energy intensity of the Indian economy.<\/li>\n<li>It coordinates with designated consumers, designated agencies and other organizations and recognises, identifies and utilises the existing resources and infrastructure, in performing the functions assigned to it under the Energy Conservation Act.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is a green economy?<\/h3>\n<p>A green economy is an economic system that prioritizes sustainability, social equity, and environmental protection.
