{"id":84723,"date":"2026-01-29T15:42:51","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T10:12:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=84723"},"modified":"2026-01-29T15:42:51","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T10:12:51","slug":"jalaj-livelihood-centres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/jalaj-livelihood-centres\/","title":{"rendered":"JALAJ Livelihood Centres"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>JALAJ Livelihood Centres Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the union Minister of Jal Shakti inaugurated 25 JALAJ Livelihood Centres.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About JALAJ Livelihood Centres<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a joint initiative of the <\/span><b>Namami Gange Mission and the Wildlife Institute of India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (WII).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Aim:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is aimed at <\/span><b>integrating river conservation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with <\/span><b>sustainable livelihoods<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the <\/span><b>Ganga<\/b> <b>river basin.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jalaj is based on <\/span><b>the circular economy model<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> where the local people will be trained in <\/span><b>sustainable livelihood practices<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and mobilized to contribute to biodiversity conservation and clean river ecosystem.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Features of JALAJ Livelihood Centres<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The initiative <\/span><b>promotes community ownership<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of conservation efforts while creating dignified livelihood opportunities, with a special <\/span><b>focus on women\u2019s participation.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jalaj is a concept to establish <\/span><b>symbiotic linkages between river and people.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Jalaj established at <\/span><b>different locations in the Ganga basin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> represent the culture and communities indigenous to that area.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are established as holistic <\/span><b>Centres of overall community well-being,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> conservation education and livelihood training.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will have facilities for dissemination of the <\/span><b>information on aquatic biodiversity<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> conservation, <\/span><b>livelihood training and sale centres<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the products developed by livelihood trainees.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2219568&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>JALAJ Livelihood Centres is a joint initiative of the Namami Gange Mission and the Wildlife Institute of India (WII).
