The Dharavi Redevelopment Project is <\/span>one of the world\u2019s largest urban redevelopment project<\/b>, <\/span>aiming to transform Dharavi – Asia\u2019s largest slum located in central Mumbai, <\/b>into a into a well-connected, transit-oriented urban zone, with emphasis on decongestion, multi-modal integration and inclusive public spaces.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was<\/span> approved in 2022<\/b> and <\/span>aims to rehouse nearly 1 million residents by 2032 into modern, high-rise tenements<\/b> while upgrading infrastructure and preserving local industries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dharavi Redevelopment Project Implementation<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Dharavi Redevelopment Project is being <\/span>implemented as a Public-Private Partnership<\/a> (PPP). <\/b>The <\/span>Government of Maharashtra <\/b>owns the land and provides regulatory oversight through the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) while the private partner, the <\/span>Adani Group,<\/b> via its Special Purpose Vehicle <\/span>Navbharat Mega Developers Private Limited (<\/b>NMDPL) is responsible for financing, planning, construction, and execution. <\/span>In this SPV, <\/span>Adani Properties Private Limited (APPL) holds an 80 per cent stake, while the remaining 20 per cent is held by the SRA. <\/b>The <\/span>gross area of the Dharavi Notified Area<\/b> is approximately 253.7 hectares. Of this, the redevelopment project covers 173.90 hectares (usable area), including land under the Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA), while 79 hectares of property are excluded from the project scope. <\/span>The <\/span>total estimated cost of the project is Rs 95,790 crore <\/b>and the project is <\/span>scheduled to be completed by January 2032<\/b>.<\/b><\/p>\n
