{"id":8537,"date":"2023-04-14T12:08:09","date_gmt":"2023-04-14T06:38:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=8537"},"modified":"2025-03-29T03:37:19","modified_gmt":"2025-03-28T22:07:19","slug":"constitutional-provisions-related-to-ad-hoc-judges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/constitutional-provisions-related-to-ad-hoc-judges\/","title":{"rendered":"Constitutional Provisions Related to Ad hoc Judges"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Ad hoc judges:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Constitutional Provisions:<\/strong> The appointment of ad-hoc judges has been provided in the Constitution under <strong>Article 224A<\/strong> (appointment of retired Judges at sittings of High Courts).<\/li>\n<li>Under this Article, the Chief Justice of a High Court for any State can request a person to act as a judge of the High Court.<\/li>\n<li>For this, the <strong>prior consent of the president<\/strong> is required.<\/li>\n<li>The person should have held the office of judge of that court or of any other High Court.<\/li>\n<li>Such a judge is entitled to <strong>allowances as determined by the President<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>He will also enjoy all the jurisdiction, powers and privileges of a judge of that high court.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The Chief Justice of a High Court may start the procedure of recommending a name if:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The number of <strong>vacancies is more than 20 % of<\/strong> the sanctioned strength.<\/li>\n<li>Cases in a particular class are pending <strong>for over five years<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>More than <strong>10 % of pending cases<\/strong> are over five years old.<\/li>\n<li>Percentage of the rate of disposal is beneath the institution of the cases either in a particular subject matter or in the court.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Q1: What is a constitution?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A constitution is a set of fundamental principles or established precedents that govern a state, organization, or society.
