N. Chowdhry,<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Major Findings of Excavations<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The excavations <\/span><b>revealed important Buddhist structures<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and relics that stand testimony to the flourishing of Buddhism in western India.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Relic casket:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The relic casket found within Devnimori Stupa at a height of 24 feet from the base, made out <\/span><b>of green schist.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is inscribed in <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/brahmi-inscription\/\" target=\"_blank\">Brahmi Script<\/a> and Sanskrit language<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it reads. <\/span><b>\u201cdashabala sharira nilay\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; the abode of the Buddha\u2019s bodily relic.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>holds a copper box<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> having organic matter with holy ashes, with silk cloth and beads.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Copper box<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The copper box had a flat top and base with a slipon lid fitting onto a rim ledge, and contained <\/span><b>silk cloth, a gold coated silver-copper bottle,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> organic material with holy ashes, and black clay used as covering.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The small <\/span><b>amphora-like gold coated bottle<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> had a sagger base, cylindrical body, and a narrow neck with a screw-type lid.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Desiccator:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The desiccator <\/span><b>now houses the Holy Relics.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is sealed in an air-tight glass to prevent further deterioration of the object inside.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2222243&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Devnimori Relics of Lord Buddha originate from the Devnimori archaeological site, located near Shamlaji in the Aravalli district of Gujarat.
