It is located on the eastern coast of the Arabian Sea in Navi Mumbai in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. It was commissioned on 26 May 1989 and is owned by the Government of India. The port handles a major share of India\u2019s containerized cargo and supports nearly 95% of India\u2019s trade volume carried through sea routes which makes it strategically vital for national logistics and economic growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Jawaharlal Nehru Port<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jawaharlal Nehru Port is operated by the <\/span><b>Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> formerly known as <\/span><b>Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
