recently won a Rs 1,593.08 crore contract for the Lower Arun Hydroelectric Project in Nepal. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Lower Arun Hydropower Project<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a<\/span><b> 679 MW run-of-river project<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> planned on the <\/span><b>Arun River <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(a <\/span><b>tributary of the Koshi River)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the Sankhuwasabha and Bhojpur districts of <\/span><b>Eastern Nepal.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project will be built <\/span><b>under the build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) model.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project is being <\/span><b>developed by Investment Board Nepal and SJVN<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (a <\/span><b>Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is the<\/span><b> second project awarded to SJVN in Nepal,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the<\/span><b> first one being t<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">he 900 MW <\/span><b>Arun 3 Hydro Electric Project<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Sankhuwasabha District.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project <\/span><b>will not have any reservoir or dam<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and will be a<\/span><b> tailrace development of the Arun-3<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> hydro project, which will mean<\/span><b> water re-enters the river for the Lower Arun project.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On completion the Project will generate 2970 million units of electricity per annum.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Key facts about Arun-3 Hydropower Project<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>900 MW run-of-the-river <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hydropower project being developed on the <\/span><b>Arun River <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in Sankhuwasabha District in <\/span><b>Nepal<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will include the construction of a 70 m-tall and 466 m-long <\/span><b>concrete gravity dam.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once completed, it will be the <\/span><b>biggest hydroelectric facility in Nepal.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It will produce 4,018.87 million units of electricity a year.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>SJVN Arun-III Power Development Company (SAPDC), <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a <\/span><b>wholly owned subsidiary of India\u2019s Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN),<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is developing the project on a <\/span><b>build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) basis.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>SJVN <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is a <\/span><b>joint venture<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> between the <\/span><b>Government of India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the<\/span><b> Government of Himachal Pradesh.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>SAPDC <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will <\/span><b>operate the facility<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for a period of <\/span><b>25 years<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, excluding the construction period of five years, <\/span><b>before transferring the ownership to the Nepal <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">government.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project will <\/span><b>provide surplus power to India,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> strengthening economic linkages with Nepal.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The power from the project shall be exported from
