


{"id":86333,"date":"2026-02-06T13:49:53","date_gmt":"2026-02-06T08:19:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=86333"},"modified":"2026-02-06T14:38:20","modified_gmt":"2026-02-06T09:08:20","slug":"spherex-mission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/spherex-mission\/","title":{"rendered":"SPHEREx Mission"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>SPHEREx Mission Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NASA\u2019s SPHEREx mission turned its infrared gaze on interstellar comet 3I\/ATLAS recently, adding to the deep pool of information the agency has gathered on what is only the third such object to be discovered passing through our solar system.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About SPHEREx Mission<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>NASA Astrophysics mission<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> launched on <\/span><b>March <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">11, <\/span><b>2025<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Spectro-Photometer for the History of the Universe, Epoch of Reionization and Ices Explorer (SPHEREx) telescope<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a<\/span><b> megaphone-shaped telescope.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will provide an <\/span><b>all-sky spectral su<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rvey.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will <\/span><b>survey the sky in optical as well as near-infrared light,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which, though not visible to the human eye, serves as a powerful tool for answering cosmic questions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over a <\/span><b>two-year planned mission,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the SPHEREx Observatory will <\/span><b>collect data <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on more than <\/span><b>450 million galaxies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> along with more than <\/span><b>100 million stars in the Milky Way<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in order to<\/span><b> explore the origins of the universe.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With this capability, SPHEREx will <\/span><b>produce a three-dimensional map of the universe<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> unlike any other.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scientists will use this map<\/span><b> to answer big questions about the early universe,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><b>history of galaxies,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><b>prevalence of life-sustaining molecules in planet-forming regions <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of space.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also will <\/span><b>identify targets for more detailed study by future missions,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> such as <\/span><b>NASA&#8217;s James Webb Space Telescope and Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/blogs\/spherex\/2026\/02\/04\/nasas-spherex-mission-tracks-brightening-of-interstellar-comet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">SCN<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SPHEREx Mission is a NASA Astrophysics mission launched on March 11, 2025.
