Mormugao Port is a <\/span>major port <\/b>on the western coast of India in the coastal state of <\/span>Goa<\/b>. Commissioned in <\/span>1885<\/b> on the site of a <\/span>natural harbour<\/b>, it is <\/span>one of India’s oldest ports.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mormugao Port History<\/b><\/h2>\n

Mormugao Port was <\/span>developed by the Portuguese in the late 19th century<\/b> primarily to export minerals from Goa and the adjoining areas. After the liberation of Goa in 1961, the port came under the control of the Government of India. In 1964, Mormugao Port was officially declared a Major Port. Since then, the port has continuously contributed to the country\u2019s economic development.<\/span><\/p>\n

Currently, the Mormugao Port is managed and operated by <\/span>Mormugao Port Authority.<\/b><\/p>\n
