{"id":86721,"date":"2026-02-08T12:07:39","date_gmt":"2026-02-08T06:37:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=86721"},"modified":"2026-02-09T15:46:28","modified_gmt":"2026-02-09T10:16:28","slug":"kondaveedu-fort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/kondaveedu-fort\/","title":{"rendered":"Kondaveedu Fort"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Kondaveedu Fort Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Union minister of state recently announced plans for the comprehensive development of the historic Kondaveedu Fort.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Kondaveedu Fort<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kondaveedu Fort, also known as Kondavid Fort, is a historical fortification located at Kondaveedu village in<\/span><b> the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is spread across a range of hills at around 1,050 feet elevation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>largest hill fort in present Andhra Pradesh.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>History<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>constructed during<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the time of the <\/span><b>Telugu Chodas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>strengthened by the Kakatiyas <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>occupied by Prolaya Vema Reddy,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who <\/span><b>shifted his capital from Addanki to Kondaveedu<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in <\/span><b>1323 AD.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Later it was <\/span><b>taken over by the Gajpathis of Orissa<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and ravaged by the <\/span><b>Bahmani Sultans<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 1458.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fort <\/span><b>later came under<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the control of the <\/span><b>Vijayanagara Empire, the Golconda Sultanate, the Mughals, the French, and the British.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The architecture displays a<\/span><b> blend of Hindu and Islamic styles.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was mainly constructed with <\/span><b>granite stones and lime mortar.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It features <\/span><b>massive granite fortifications,<\/b> <b>23 bastions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> connected by<\/span><b> defensive walls,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and two main entrances called Kolepalli Darwaza and Nadella Darwaza.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inside the fort are <\/span><b>ruins of temples, pillared halls, granaries, water tanks<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and a <\/span><b>mosque.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fort is also known for its <\/span><b>ancient water conservation system<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with several ponds supplying water to inhabitants.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recent archaeological findings include <\/span><b>Buddhist stupa remains dating back to the 1st or 2nd century CE.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.deccanchronicle.com\/southern-states\/andhra-pradesh\/union-minister-promises-comprehensive-development-of-kondaveedu-fort-1935755\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DC<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kondaveedu Fort is a historical fortification located at Kondaveedu village in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.
