It belongs to the genus <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nasalis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, named after the Latin word nasus meaning nose. The species is well known for the male\u2019s long hanging nose and pot shaped belly. It lives mainly in mangrove, coastal and riverine forests and is one of the best swimming monkeys in Asia.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Proboscis Monkeys Features<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Proboscis Monkeys show clear differences between males and females in size and nose shape.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Large Nose<\/strong>: Male noses can grow over 10 cm long. The large nasal cavity helps produce loud honks and roars for attracting females and showing dominance.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Colour<\/strong>: Fur is reddish-brown with lighter underparts. The island divided in three countries:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Indonesia<\/strong>: Found mainly in Kalimantan, including Tanjung Puting and Kutai National Parks.
