The <\/span><b>Hindu Jat Kingdom reached its zenith under Maharaja Suraj Mal<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. He is known as the<\/span><b> \u201cPlato of the Jats\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for his wisdom, diplomacy, and statesmanship.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Maharaja Surajmal Early Life<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maharaja Surajmal was <\/span><b>born in 1707 in the erstwhile kingdom of Bharatpur.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He belonged to the\u00a0 <\/span><b>Sinsinwar Jat dynasty.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was the <\/span><b>son of Badan Singh<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, founder of Bharatpur State (Jat Kingdom of Rajasthan).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Maharaja Suraj Legacy<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maharaja Surajmal <\/span><b>expanded and strengthened Bharatpur into a powerful kingdom<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Under his leadership, the <\/span><b>kingdom extended over present-day Rajasthan, Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Delhi, making it a significant regional power.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maharaja Suraj Mal <\/span><b>captured strategically important towns such as Agra, Mathura, and Aligarh<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The strategic expansion of his kingdom made the Jat state a dominant force in North India during the 18th century, a period marked by the decline of the Mughal Empire and the rise of regional powers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Suraj Mal was widely respected for his strategic intelligence, earning him the title <\/span><b>\u201cPlato of the Jats\u201d. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He successfully <\/span><b>repelled repeated attacks from the Mughals, Marathas, and Afghan invaders.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maharaja Surajmal <\/span><b>rebuilt and fortified Lohagarh Fort (Iron Fort) at Bharatpur,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> enhancing its defensive features and making it a virtually impregnable stronghold of Bharatpur.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He had a <\/span><b>good relationship with Jai Singh of Jaipur.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Surajmal was a <\/span><b>secular ruler<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who believed in the <\/span><b>unity of humanity above religion<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. He employed people based on merit, respected cultural monuments of other faiths, and envisioned a unified India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He implemented an <\/span><b>efficient revenue system<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that ensured regular income for the state, while land reforms strengthened agricultural productivity and stability.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His policies <\/span><b>encouraged trade and commerce.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beyond administration and military conquests, Maharaja Suraj Mal was a <\/span><b>patron of arts, architecture, and culture<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
