{"id":87884,"date":"2026-06-27T13:50:54","date_gmt":"2026-06-27T08:20:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=87884"},"modified":"2026-06-27T14:58:47","modified_gmt":"2026-06-27T09:28:47","slug":"pm-rahat-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pm-rahat-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"PM RAHAT Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>PM-RAHAT Scheme Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The requirement for facial identification of an accident victim to claim relief under the PM RAHAT Scheme has been removed, informed Dakshina Kannada District Health and Family Welfare Officer (DHO) recently. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About PM-RAHAT Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PM RAHAT (<\/span><b>Road Accident Victim Hospitalization and Assured Treatment)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a <\/span><b>Central Sector Scheme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under the <\/span><b>Ministry of Road Transport and Highways<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (MoRTH).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the Scheme,<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">every <\/span><b>eligible road accident victim on any category of road <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be entitled to<\/span><b> cashless treatment up to \u20b91.5 lakh per victim<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for a <\/span><b>period of seven days from the date of accident.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This statutory scheme will take <\/span><b>precedence over any other Central or State-level schemes.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Salient Features of the Scheme<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every road accident victim shall be provided with <\/span><b>stabilization treatment for up to 24 hours in non-life-threatening cases<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and up to <\/span><b>48 hours in life-threatening cases <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at designated hospitals, subject to police response.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been successfully <\/span><b>implemented <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">through the amalgamation of <\/span><b>two existing platforms.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>eDAR (Electronic Detailed Accident Report) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">used by police officials for reporting accidents<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>TMS 2.0 (Transaction Management System) of the <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-national-health-authority-nha\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Health Authority (NHA)<\/a>, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">used by hospitals for treatment, claim submissions, and processing of payments.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>While initiating the treatment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>police authentication <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the victim will have to be <\/span><b>initiated on the TMS platform.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>hospital would generate the treatment ID(s) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on TMS and <\/span><b>push them to the district police through eDAR.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The time available with police for responding on eDAR shall be up to 24 hours, or 48 hours in life-threatening situations, as decided by the hospital administrator.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will be <\/span><b>integrated with the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) 112, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">enabling v<\/span><b>ictims, Good Samaritans to dial 112 to locate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the<\/span><b> nearest designated hospital<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and request ambulance assistance.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Reimbursements <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to hospitals<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be made<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">through the<\/span><b> Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVAF).<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In cases where the <\/span><b>offending vehicle is insured,<\/b> <b>payment <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be drawn from<\/span><b> contributions made by general insurance companies.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In <\/span><b>uninsured and hit &amp;
