


{"id":8799,"date":"2022-10-30T06:05:09","date_gmt":"2022-10-30T00:35:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=8799"},"modified":"2025-03-29T09:10:20","modified_gmt":"2025-03-29T03:40:20","slug":"uniform-civil-code-ucc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/uniform-civil-code-ucc\/","title":{"rendered":"Uniform Civil Code (UCC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Uniform Civil Code (UCC):<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A Uniform Civil Code is one that would provide for one law for the entire country, applicable to all religious communities in their personal matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, adoption etc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Article 44 of the Constitution<\/strong>\u00a0lays down that the state shall endeavour to secure a Uniform Civil Code for the citizens throughout the territory of India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Directive Principles of State Policy:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Article 44 is one of the Directive Principles of State Policy.<\/li>\n<li>These, as defined in Article 37, are not justiciable (not enforceable by any court) but the principles laid down therein are fundamental in governance.<\/li>\n<li>While Article 44 uses the words \u201cstate shall endeavour\u201d, other Articles in the \u2018Directive Principles\u2019 chapter use words such as \u201cin particular strive\u201d; \u201cshall in particular direct its policy\u201d; \u201cshall be obligation of the state\u201d etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Uniform Civil Code (Goa):<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Goa, a former Portuguese colony, was incorporated into the Union of India in 1961.
