{"id":8892,"date":"2022-10-29T05:33:07","date_gmt":"2022-10-29T00:03:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=8892"},"modified":"2025-03-29T10:00:20","modified_gmt":"2025-03-29T04:30:20","slug":"department-related-parliamentary-standing-committees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/department-related-parliamentary-standing-committees\/","title":{"rendered":"Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committees"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committees:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>History:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>17 DRSCs were established in Parliament in 1993\u00a0<\/strong>on the proposal of the\u00a0Lok Sabha Rules Committee.<br \/>\nSeven more similar committees were established in 2004 and their numbers were thus increased\u00a0<strong>from 17 to\u00a024.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Objective:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The fundamental purpose of the Standing Committees is to\u00a0make the Executive\u00a0(i.e. the Council of Ministers)\u00a0more accountable\u00a0(particularly in financial matters) to the Parliament.<\/li>\n<li>They also help the Parliament to\u00a0discuss the budget\u00a0more effectively.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Other Important Facts:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>All the Ministries or Departments of the Central Government\u00a0shall be governed\u00a0by the 24 Standing Committees.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Each standing committee consists of\u00a031 members<\/strong>(21 from Lok Sabha and 10 from Rajya Sabha).
