


{"id":89110,"date":"2026-02-21T15:04:31","date_gmt":"2026-02-21T09:34:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=89110"},"modified":"2026-02-21T15:04:31","modified_gmt":"2026-02-21T09:34:31","slug":"ins-krishna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/ins-krishna\/","title":{"rendered":"INS Krishna"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>INS Krishna Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indian naval cadets will now get to train aboard dedicated \u201cfloating classrooms\u201d as the Indian Navy has commissioned \u2018INS Krishna\u2019, the first of three indigenously built cadet training ships (CTS).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About INS Krishna<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the first of three <\/span><b>indigenously built cadet training ships <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(CTS) of the Indian Navy.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These CTS will be utilised for<\/span><b> training officer cadets, including women, at sea<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> after their basic training ashore, and<\/span><b> cadets from friendly foreign countries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These vessels function as \u201cfloating classrooms and living labs\u201d, offering hands-on <\/span><b>instruction in navigation, seamanship, and watch-keeping<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under real maritime conditions.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Designated Yard 18003, INS Krishna, was <\/span><b>constructed <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at the <\/span><b>L&amp;T shipyard in Kattupalli near Chennai.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apart from serving as a training platform, the ship is designed to undertake <\/span><b>non-combatant evacuations, humanitarian aid and disaster relief<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and search-and-rescue operations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">INS Krishna can simultaneously accommodate 20 officers, 150 sailors, and 200 cadets.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The vessel features three classrooms with a capacity of 70 cadets each, along with a specialised training bridge and chart room.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Displacing nearly 4,700 tonnes, it can achieve speeds of up to 20 knots and has an <\/span><b>endurance of 60 days.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.moneycontrol.com\/news\/india\/indian-navy-unveils-cadet-training-ship-krishna-for-future-officers-induction-by-year-end-13835083.html\/amp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>MC<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>INS Krishna is the first of three indigenously built cadet training ships (CTS) of the Indian Navy.
