The visit brought global visibility to the Bharat GI initiative and highlighted India\u2019s effort to promote its heritage products on international platforms.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is Bharat GI?<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bharat GI is a government initiative to <\/span><b>promote India\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/gi-tag\/\" target=\"_blank\">Geographical Indication<\/a> (GI) products under a common national brand.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to <\/span><b>promote India\u2019s GI-tagged products globally under the tagline \u201cA World Exclusive.\u201d<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>launched by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>What is a Geographical Indication (GI)?<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>GI (Geographical Indication) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is a label given to products that come from a specific region and have unique qualities, reputation, or characteristics because of that origin (e.g., Darjeeling Tea, Bikaneri Bhujia, Chanderi Saree)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is governed by the <\/span><b>Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Registration and protection of GI in India is done by the <\/span><b>GI Registry under DPIIT.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: years and can be renewed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a collective right given to producers of a specific region.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It prevents unauthorized use of the product name.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight:
