{"id":89999,"date":"2026-02-26T13:10:27","date_gmt":"2026-02-26T07:40:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=89999"},"modified":"2026-02-27T13:58:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T08:28:57","slug":"employees-state-insurance-corporation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/employees-state-insurance-corporation\/","title":{"rendered":"Employees\u2019 State Insurance Corporation"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Employees\u2019 State Insurance Corporation Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Employees\u2019 State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) commenced the celebration of its 75th Year of Service at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Employees\u2019 State Insurance Corporation<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>statutory body<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> formed under the <\/span><b>ESI Act 1948.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is functioning under the aegis of <\/span><b>Ministry of Labour and Employment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It manages the ESI scheme, which provides medical, maternity, and financial benefits to employees.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Functions:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ESIC provides various social security benefits like <\/span><b>Medical Benefit, Monetary benefits<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the workmen and their family working in the <\/span><b>private and public sector.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Genesis of ESIC<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first document on social insurance was <\/span><b>&#8220;Report on Health Insurance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8221; submitted to the Tripartite Labour Conference, headed by <\/span><b>Prof. B.P.Adarkar<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who was acknowledged as <\/span><b>Chhota Beveridge.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 1948 <\/span><b>Dr. C.L.Katial <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">took over as the <\/span><b>1st Director General of ESIC<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ESI scheme was inaugurated in Kanpur on <\/span><b>24th February 1952<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ESIC Day) by then Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Composition of ESIC<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Union <\/span><b>Minister of Labour<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> heads the ESIC <\/span><b>as its Chairman.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Central Government appoints a <\/span><b>Director General as the Chief Executive Officer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of ESIC.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ESIC <\/span><b>comprises members representing crucial interest groups<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including employers, employees, the Central and State Governments, representatives of the Parliament and the medical profession.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2232317&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Employees\u2019 State Insurance Corporation is a statutory body formed under the ESI Act 1948.
