Article 143 of the Indian Constitution establishes the advisory jurisdiction of the Supreme Court of India which enables the President to seek its opinion on questions of law or facts that are of public importance. This provision acts as a constitutional consultative mechanism between the executive and the judiciary. It was adopted on 6 June 1949 by the Constituent Assembly.
