{"id":9060,"date":"2022-10-27T12:22:45","date_gmt":"2022-10-27T06:52:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=9060"},"modified":"2025-03-29T11:00:57","modified_gmt":"2025-03-29T05:30:57","slug":"blue-flag-beaches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/blue-flag-beaches\/","title":{"rendered":"Blue Flag beaches"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Blue Flag beaches:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>With the new additions, the number of beaches certified under the Blue Flag Certification is\u00a0<strong>twelve<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The other Indian beaches in the blue list are<\/strong>\u00a0Shivrajpur-Gujarat, Ghoghla-Diu, Kasarkod and Padubidri-Karnataka, Kappad-Kerala, Rushikonda- Andhra Pradesh, Golden-Odisha, Radhanagar- Andaman and Nicobar, Kovalam in Tamil Nadu and Eden in Puducherry beaches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Blue Flag\u2019 certification<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The Blue Flag programme was\u00a0<strong>started in France in 1985 and in areas out of Europe in 2001<\/strong>. It promotes sustainable development in freshwater and marine areas through\u00a0<strong>four main criteria:<\/strong>\u00a0water quality, environmental management, environmental education and safety.<\/li>\n<li>It can be obtained by a\u00a0<strong>beach, marina, or sustainable boating tourism operator,<\/strong>\u00a0and serves as an eco-label.<\/li>\n<li>The certification is awarded by the\u00a0<strong>Denmark-based non-profit Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE)<\/strong>.
