It involves the illegal production, transport, sale, and distribution of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. India is affected by both international drug smuggling networks and domestic drug distribution channels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India\u2019s geographic location makes it vulnerable to drug trafficking. The country lies between major <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/golden-triangle\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Golden Triangle<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Myanmar-Laos-Thailand) and <\/span><b>Golden Crescent <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Afghanistan-Iran-Pakistan) drug production regions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drug trafficking in India is mainly controlled under the <\/span><b>Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 (NDPS Act)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which provides strict punishment for illegal drug activities. Another important law is the <\/span><b>Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which focuses on preventing organised drug trafficking networks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/narcotics-control-bureau-ncb\/\" target=\"_blank\">Narcotics Control Bureau<\/a> (NCB) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is the main agency responsible for combating drug trafficking in India. It works with state police, border security forces, and international organisations like <\/span><b>INTERPOL<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Government Measures to Control
