district of <strong>Karnataka<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>These broad hills <strong>overlook the Arabian Sea <\/strong>and are connected by <strong>deep valleys and sharp cliffs.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is also known as the <strong>Horse Face Range <\/strong>(the literal meaning of Kudremukh in Kannada is horse-faced).<\/li>\n<li>It <strong>got its name from its main peak, Kudremukh Peak <\/strong>(1892 metres), which has a marked similarity to the face of a horse.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kudremukh National Park<\/strong>, the second largest wildlife protected area in the Western Ghats, <strong>is located in these ranges.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is believed that <strong>Kudremukh served as a landmark for sailors on the western coast <\/strong>for over 2000 years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Key Facts about Kudremukh National Park:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Location<\/strong>: It is spread across 600.57 sq km. in the <strong>Chikkamagaluru and Dakshina Kannada districts of Karnataka.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Vegetation: Dense forest cover <\/strong>primarily consists of <strong>semi-evergreen and evergreen trees.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Flora<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Rare flora <\/strong>on the edge of extinction, <strong>such as the Nilambur Cobra Lily <\/strong>and the <strong>South Indian Jewel Orchid<\/strong>, can be found here.<\/li>\n<li>In addition, there are <strong>many trees, including eucalyptus<\/strong>, <strong>acacia<\/strong>, <strong>silk oaks, <\/strong>casuarinas, and others.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Fauna<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>It houses a variety of wildlife such as the <strong>leopard, Malabar giant squirrel, sloth bear, gaur, sambar, jackal,<\/strong> mongoose, tiger, wild dog, common langur etc.<\/li>\n<li>It is home to a variety of birds, such as the <strong>Malabar trogon, Malabar whistling thrush<\/strong>,
