She is <\/span><b>remembered as the last Hindu queen of Bhopal <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and is known for her courage, leadership, and sacrifice during a period of political instability in central India.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Rani Kamlapati Early Life<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rani Kamlapati belonged to the <\/span><b>Gond tribe,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> one of the largest tribal communities of central India.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She was <\/span><b>born at Ginnorgarh Fort<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which was an important Gond stronghold.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She was <\/span><b>married to Nizam Shah<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a Gond ruler who controlled territories around Bhopal.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to historical accounts, Nizam Shah was poisoned by <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/shah-alam-ii\/\" target=\"_blank\">Alam Shah<\/a>,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> his nephew, who wanted to capture the kingdom and marry Rani Kamlapati.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To avenge the death of her husband and protect her kingdom, she sought the assistance of <\/span><b>Dost Mohammad Khan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an <\/span><b>Afghan military commander<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. She reportedly offered him a reward of one lakh rupees to defeat Alam Shah. Dost Mohammad Khan later led a combined force of Gond soldiers and Afghan warriors and defeated Alam Shah.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the assassination of Nizam Shah, Rani Kamlapati assumed responsibility for the administration of the kingdom and protected the interests of her minor son.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over time, <\/span><b>Dost Mohammad Khan consolidated his influence and eventually took control of Bhopal.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This marked a turning point in the region\u2019s history, as Bhopal evolved into a princely state under his authority, bringing an end to Hindu rule in the area.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to historical traditions, Rani Kamlapati chose <\/span><b>\u2018Jal Jauhar\u2019 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(ritual self-sacrifice by drowning) after facing betrayal and the loss of her kingdom.
