The river is closely <\/span><b>associated with the spiritual enlightenment of Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Apart from its religious importance, the river also supports wetlands, local ecosystems, and agriculture in the Doaba region of Punjab.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Kali Bein River Origin and Course\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Kali Bein is a <\/span><b>165-kilometre-long rivulet<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (a small stream or a tiny river) that originates in Hoshiarpur District.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From its source, the river <\/span><b>flows through the fertile Doaba region<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the land between the Beas River and the Sutlej River.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During its course, the river passes through several districts including Kapurthala District and flows near important towns such as Sultanpur Lodhi.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eventually, the Kali Bein meets the confluence of the Beas and Sutlej rivers in Kapurthala district.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The river flows past around 80 villages and several towns, making it an important local water body for the surrounding rural population.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Kali Bein River Physical Features and Tributaries<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kali Bein River is <\/span><b>fed by several small streams and canals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which help maintain its flow throughout the year. According to Sikh tradition, <\/span><b>Guru Nanak attained spiritual enlightenment on the banks of Kali Bein river.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During his stay at Sultanpur Lodhi, <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/guru-nanak\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Guru Nanak<\/strong><\/a> regularly bathed in the Kali Bein. One day, he is believed to have entered the river and disappeared for three days.
