It is <\/span><b>spread by skin-to-skin contact<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with someone who carries the virus.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Once infected<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a person will <\/span><b>have the HSV for the rest of their life.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HSV can <\/span><b>periodically reactivate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, causing symptoms.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) <\/b><b>Symptoms<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Most people<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with herpes have <\/span><b>no symptoms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or only mild symptoms.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many people aren\u2019t aware they have the infection and can <\/span><b>pass along the virus to others<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> without knowing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Others might experience <\/span><b>occasional episodes of small, fluid-filled blisters or sores.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These <\/span><b>sores and blisters <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are <\/span><b>typically painful. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blisters may <\/span><b>break open, ooze, and then crust over.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New infections may cause fever, body aches, and swollen lymph nodes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>In rare cases<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, infection with HSV-1 or HSV-2 can<\/span><b> lead to meningitis<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (inflammation of the covering of the brain and spinal cord) or <\/span><b>encephalitis <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(inflammation of the brain).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) <\/b><b>Treatment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>treatable but not curable.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Antivirals <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>home remedies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can help <\/span><b>ease the severity of symptoms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
