Foehn winds can cause a sudden increase in temperature and make the weather warmer in nearby areas. They are an example of local winds that influence the climate and weather conditions of a particular region.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Foehn Winds<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Foehn is a<\/span><b> warm, dry, and sometimes strong local wind <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that blows on the <\/span><b>leeward side of the Alps mountains in Europe. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These winds occur when air moves across the mountains due to differences in air pressure.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As moist air rises on the windward side of the mountains, it cools and often produces rain or snow. After crossing the mountain peaks, the air descends on the other side and becomes warmer and drier. When the snow melts, pasture lands become available for animal grazing, and crops such as grapes can ripen earlier.
