They usually occur when the air near the ground gets warm and starts rising, moving from lower areas to higher regions. Anabatic winds are also called upslope winds.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Anabatic Winds Formation<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anabatic winds develop mainly during the daytime due to the heating effect of the Sun. When sunlight falls on mountain slopes, these slopes warm up faster than the nearby valleys or plains.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As the surface of the slope becomes warm, the air in contact with it also gets heated. This warm air becomes lighter (less dense) compared to the surrounding cooler air. To balance this, cooler air from the lower areas moves in and replaces the rising warm air.
