{"id":93572,"date":"2026-03-19T11:04:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T05:34:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=93572"},"modified":"2026-03-20T17:27:15","modified_gmt":"2026-03-20T11:57:15","slug":"cotton-corporation-of-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/cotton-corporation-of-india\/","title":{"rendered":"Cotton Corporation of India"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Cotton Corporation of India Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved Minimum Support Price (MSP) funding to the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) for the cotton season 2023\u201324.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Cotton Corporation of India<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was established on 31st July 1970.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>Public Sector Undertaking under the Companies Act 1956.<\/b><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nodal Ministry:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It works under the administrative control <\/span><b>of Ministry of Textiles, Government of India<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Functions:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The major role of the CCI is to <\/span><b>undertake price support operations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, whenever the market prices of kapas fall below the <\/span><b>minimum support prices<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (MSP) announced by Govt. of India, without any quantitative limit.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Besides MSP operations, to fulfil the <\/span><b>raw material requirement<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the domestic textile industry particularly for lean season, CCI undertakes commercial purchase operations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has PAN India presence through <\/span><b>headquarters at Navi Mumbai<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Maharashtra), 19 branches in all major cotton growing States.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Cotton cultivation<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cotton is a <\/span><b>tropical and subtropical crop<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that requires warm conditions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Cotton Cultivation Growing Requirements\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Temperature:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The ideal temperature ranges in between 21\u00b0C to 30\u00b0C. It needs 210 frost-free days annually, as frost is highly damaging.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Rainfall:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The crop requires 50\u2013100 cm of rainfall, ideally well-distributed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Soil:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Cotton grows best in <\/span><b>deep <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/black-soil\/\" target=\"_blank\">black soils<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (regur) of the Deccan Plateau, Malwa Plateau, and Gujarat.
