{"id":94361,"date":"2026-03-23T14:26:25","date_gmt":"2026-03-23T08:56:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=94361"},"modified":"2026-03-23T14:59:15","modified_gmt":"2026-03-23T09:29:15","slug":"guru-angad-dev","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/guru-angad-dev\/","title":{"rendered":"Guru Angad Dev"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Guru Angad Dev Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Home Minister paid tributes to the second Sikh Guru, Shri Angad Dev on the occasion of his Jyoti-Jyot Diwas.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Guru Angad Dev<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Guru Angad (31 March 1504&#8211;29 March 1552) was born with the <\/span><b>birth name of Lahna<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the village of Matte-di-Sarai in Firozpur district of <\/span><b>Punjab, India.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was the <\/span><b>second Sikh Guru (1539\u201352).<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Contribution of\u00a0 Guru Angad Dev<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He <\/span><b>introduced the Gurmukhi script<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, standardizing the Punjabi language.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He made extensive efforts to <\/span><b>spread teachings of <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/guru-nanak\/\" target=\"_blank\">Guru Nanak Dev<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> far and wide.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He introduced the teaching of Punjabi in Gurmukhi script by modifying the existing alphabet.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He improved literacy among the Sikhs and <\/span><b>started school at Khadur Sahib to teach Gurmukhi<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the children.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He <\/span><b>encouraged physical health building<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through sports and wrestling as well mental health through discipline and truthful living.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He composed <\/span><b>62 hymns in 10 Ragas.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He consolidated the institution of Langar started by Guru Nanak Dev Ji.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He also established <\/span><b>hundreds of new Sangats<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Sikh religious Institutions) and thus strengthened the base of Sikhism.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2243481&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Guru Angad Dev was born with the birth name of Lahna the village of Matte-di-Sarai in Firozpur district of Punjab, India.
