According to Sample Registration System Statistical Report 2020, Chhattisgarh had the highest gap in 2020, with a male infant mortality rate of 35 compared to female infant mortality rate of 41.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Infant Mortality<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Infant mortality is the death of an infant before his or her first birthday.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The infant mortality rate<\/strong>\u00a0is the number of infant deaths for every 1,000 live births.<\/li>\n<li>In addition to giving us key information about maternal and infant health, the infant mortality rate is an important marker of the overall health of a society.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Interventions for improving Infant Mortality Rate (IMR):<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mothers\u2019 Absolute Affection (MAA):\u00a0<\/strong>Early initiation and exclusive breastfeeding for first six months and appropriate Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices are promoted under Mothers\u2019 Absolute Affection (MAA).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Social Awareness and Actions to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully (SAANS) initiative<\/strong>\u00a0implemented since 2019 for reduction of Childhood morbidity and mortality due to Pneumonia.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Universal Immunization Programme (UIP)<\/strong>\u00a0is implemented to provide vaccination to children against life threatening diseases such as Tuberculosis, Diphtheria, Pertussis, Polio, Tetanus, Hepatitis B, Measles, Rubella, Pneumonia and Meningitis caused by Haemophilus Influenzae B.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakaram (RBSK):<\/strong>\u00a0Children from 0 to 18 years of age are screened for 30 health conditions (i.e. Diseases, Deficiencies, Defects and Developmental delay) under Rashtriya Bal SwasthyaKaryakaram (RBSK) to improve child survival.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Source :\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/newsonair.gov.in\/News?title=India-registers-decline-in-female-IMR%3b-PM-lauds-collective-commitments-of-130-crore-Indians-to-strengthen-Nari-Shakti&amp;id=448843\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">All India Radio<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>India has registered a decline in the female infant mortality rate.
