It was implemented by the Indian Navy in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs. The mission has covered 15 friendly foreign countries, delivering over 3,000 metric tonnes of food aid, 300 metric tonnes of liquid medical oxygen, 900 oxygen concentrators and 20 ISO containers while covering nearly 40,000 nautical miles over 215 days at sea.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Mission Sagar Objectives<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mission Sagar focuses on providing timely 400;\">The mission aimed to provide essential supplies such as food, medicines, oxygen and medical teams to Indian Ocean countries struggling during the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/covid-19\/\" target=\"_blank\">Covid 19<\/a><\/strong> pandemic and related crises.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It enhances India\u2019s partnership with maritime neighbours by promoting trust, goodwill and long term cooperation in health, disaster relief and security domains.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mission Sagar serves as a practical extension of the SAGAR policy by supporting style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAGAR represents India\u2019s strategic maritime vision focused on security, cooperation and sustainable growth in the Indian Ocean Region.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Launched in 2015, SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) provides a comprehensive approach to maritime cooperation, focusing on peace, stability and development.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It emphasizes strengthening naval partnerships, enhancing surveillance and building maritime capabilities of partner nations to ensure regional security.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAGAR promotes economic growth, connectivity and sustainable use of ocean resources, ensuring benefits for all littoral countries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aligns with initiatives like Act East Policy, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/blue-economy\/\" target=\"_blank\">Blue Economy<\/a><\/strong> and Project Sagarmala, creating a broader maritime development and security ecosystem.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Mission Sagar Phases<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mission Sagar has been executed in multiple phases, each targeting specific countries with tailored humanitarian assistance.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Mission Sagar I<\/strong>: Conducted in May 2020, INS Kesari delivered 580 tonnes of food, medicines and medical teams to Maldives, Mauritius, Madagascar, Comoros and Seychelles.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Mission Sagar II<\/strong>: In October-November 2020, INS Airavat supplied 270 tonnes of food aid to Sudan, South Sudan, Djibouti and Eritrea, strengthening India\u2019s presence near key maritime routes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Mission Sagar III<\/strong>: In December 2020, assistance of about 15 tonnes each was delivered to Vietnam and Cambodia under HADR operations, reinforcing ties with ASEAN countries.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Mission Sagar IV<\/strong>: In March 2021, India provided 1,000 tonnes of rice each to Comoros and Madagascar, addressing food security concerns during the 400;\"><strong>Mission Sagar VI<\/strong>: Also in August 2021, Sri Lanka received 100 MT liquid medical oxygen and five ISO containers to support its healthcare system.<\/span><\/li>\n<li
