


{"id":9528,"date":"2022-10-18T12:44:21","date_gmt":"2022-10-18T07:14:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=9528"},"modified":"2025-03-29T13:53:35","modified_gmt":"2025-03-29T08:23:35","slug":"constitutional-provisions-related-to-governors-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/constitutional-provisions-related-to-governors-role\/","title":{"rendered":"Constitutional Provisions Related to Governor\u2019s\u00a0Role"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Important constitutional provisions about the Governor\u2019s role:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Article 163:<\/strong>\u00a0There shall be a council of ministers with the chief minister as the head to aid and advise the governor in the exercise of his functions, except in so far as he is required to exercise his functions in his discretion.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Article 164:<\/strong>\u00a0The chief Minister shall be appointed by the Governor and the other Ministers shall be appointed by the Governor on the advice of the Chief Minister, and the Ministers shall hold office during the pleasure of the Governor.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Article 174:<\/strong>\u00a0The Governor can also summon, prorogue, and dissolve the Legislative Assembly.\u00a0By convention, he does this on the advice of the Council of Ministers while they enjoy the confidence of the Assembly.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Article 200:<\/strong>\u00a0Every Bill passed in an Assembly has to be sent to the Governor, after which he has four options\n<ul>\n<li>to assent to the Bill,<\/li>\n<li>withhold assent,<\/li>\n<li>reserve the Bill for the consideration of the President, or<\/li>\n<li>return the Bill to the legislature, asking it to reconsider the Bill or an aspect of it.
