Adjoining Areas (CAQM)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the paddy harvest season beginning in northern India, the Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) has stepped up measures to curb stubble burning, one of the key contributors to winter air pollution in the Capital.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>About Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>statutory body<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> established under the <\/span><b>Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region (NCR) and Adjoining Areas, Act 2021.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Mandate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Better <\/span><b>coordination, research, identification, and resolution of problems surrounding the air quality index <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It undertakes<\/span><b> action for the prevention and control of Air pollution in Delhi-NCR &amp; Adjoining Areas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which impacts the air quality of the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Commission is <\/span><b>required to coordinate its actions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on monitoring of air quality <\/span><b>with the government of Delhi and the adjoining states,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which includes <\/span><b>Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Commission for Air Quality Management <\/b><b>Powers<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Restricting activities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> influencing air quality.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Investigating and conducting research <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">related to environmental pollution <\/span><b>impacting air quality, preparing codes and guidelines <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to prevent and control air pollution.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Issuing directions on matters including inspections, or regulation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s, which will be binding on the concerned person or authority.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>All the directions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and orders by the Commission<\/span><b> are of binding nature,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and any <\/span><b>person, officer, or authority shall be bound to comply<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the same.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The commission is <\/span><b>directly accountable to the parliament.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Commission for Air Quality Management <\/b><b>Composition<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Chairperson<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: To be chaired by a government official of the <\/span><b>rank of Secretary or Chief Secretary.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He will hold the<\/span><b> post for three years or until <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s\/he attains the age of <\/span><b>70 years.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will also have <\/span><b>five ex-officio members<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who are <\/span><b>either Chief Secretaries or Secretaries in charge of the department<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> dealing with environment protection in the <\/span><b>States of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Three full time technical members.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Three members from non-government organisations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Technical members from the <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/central-pollution-control-board\/\" target=\"_blank\">Central Pollution Control Board<\/a> (CPCB),<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><b>Indian Space Research Organisation, and NITI Aayog.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/cities\/Delhi\/file-complaints-against-lax-officials-over-stubble-burning-caqm-to-district-officials\/article70122743.ece#google_vignette\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">TH<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas (CAQM) undertakes action for the prevention and control of Air pollution in Delhi-NCR &#038;
