{"id":95940,"date":"2026-04-01T13:47:36","date_gmt":"2026-04-01T08:17:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=95940"},"modified":"2026-04-01T13:47:36","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T08:17:36","slug":"sanshodhak-survey-vessel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/sanshodhak-survey-vessel\/","title":{"rendered":"Sanshodhak Survey Vessel"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Sanshodhak Survey Vessel Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Sanshodhak (Yard 3028) was delivered to the Indian Navy.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Sanshodhak Survey Vessel<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>fourth and final Survey Vessel<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Large) built under a four-ship project at <\/span><b>Garden Reach Shipbuilders &amp; Engineers Ltd<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (GRSE) in Kolkata.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The contract for four Survey Vessel (Large) ships was signed on 30 Oct 2018.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The previous ships of the same class, <\/span><b>INS Sandhayak, INS Nirdeshak and INS Ikshak<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> were commissioned.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The SVL ships are designed and built as per classification rules of<\/span><b> Indian Register of Shipping <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by M\/s Garden Reach Shipbuilders &amp; Engineers Ltd (GRSE), Kolkata.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Role:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The ship is capable of <\/span><b>full-scale coastal and deep-water Hydrographic survey<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of port\/Harbour approaches and determination of navigational channels\/ routes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ship&#8217;s role also includes <\/span><b>collecting oceanographic<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>geophysical data for defence and civil applications.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Features of Sanshodhak Survey Vessel<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Capacity:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It has displacement capacity of <\/span><b>about 3400 tons<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is fitted with state-of-the-art hydrographic equipment such as <\/span><b>Data Acquisition and Processing System, Autonomous Underwater Vehicle<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Remotely Operated Vehicle, DGPS long-range positioning systems, Digital Side Scan Sonar, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Propulsion:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is powered by two diesel engines; the ship can achieve <\/span><b>speeds in excess of 18 knots.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sanshodhak has an indigenous content in excess <\/span><b>of 80% by cost.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2247145&amp;reg=22&amp;lang=1#:~:text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sanshodhak Survey Vessel is the fourth and final Survey Vessel (Large) built under a four-ship project at Garden Reach Shipbuilders &#038; Engineers Ltd (GRSE) in Kolkata.
