{"id":9639,"date":"2026-03-24T11:22:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-24T05:52:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=9639"},"modified":"2026-03-24T14:43:56","modified_gmt":"2026-03-24T09:13:56","slug":"garbh-ini-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/garbh-ini-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"GARBH-INi Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>GARBH-INi Initiative Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science &amp; Technology said that India\u2019s largest pregnancy cohort study of 12,000 women under the GARBH-INi initiative is aimed at developing indigenous, AI-driven solutions to address preterm births.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About GARBH-INi Initiative<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It promotes <\/span><b>Maternal and Child Health<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and develops <\/span><b>prediction tools for preterm birth.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an interdisciplinary <\/span><b>Group for Advanced Research in BirtH outcomes- DBT India Initiative (GARBH-Ini)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has initiated a <\/span><b>cohort study of pregnant women in<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> May 2015.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objectives<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To <\/span><b>acquire deep fundamental knowledge<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on adverse pregnancy outcomes such as <\/span><b>preterm birth (PTB) and fetal growth restriction (FGR)<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apply this knowledge to <\/span><b>identify efficient and sustainable solutions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that would assist in reducing <\/span><b>associated mortality, immediate and long term morbidity.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an initiative under <\/span><b>the Department of Biotechnology<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the Union Ministry of Science and Technology as a collaborative interdisciplinary programme.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This program is led by the <\/span><b>Translational Health Science and Technology Institute<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (THSTI), NCR Biotech cluster, Faridabad.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is part of the <\/span><b>Atal Jai Anusandhan Biotech Mission<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 Undertaking Nationally Relevant Technology Innovation (UNaTI).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>What is a Preterm Birth?<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is defined as <\/span><b>babies born alive before 37 weeks<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of pregnancy are completed.
