{"id":97357,"date":"2026-08-25T12:24:30","date_gmt":"2026-08-25T06:54:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=97357"},"modified":"2026-08-25T15:07:29","modified_gmt":"2026-08-25T09:37:29","slug":"lead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/lead\/","title":{"rendered":"Lead"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Lead Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Researchers at the ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition (ICMR-NIN), Hyderabad, have found that exposure to lead can significantly disrupt the natural waste-clearing and recycling system of nerve cells.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Lead<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>naturally occurring element<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> found in small amounts in the <\/span><b>earth\u2019s crust.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Properties<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>soft, silvery white<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or grayish metal in Group 14 (IVa) of the periodic table.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lead has a <\/span><b>bright lustre and is a dense, ductile, very soft,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> highly malleable, bluish-white metal that has poor electrical conductivity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is also <\/span><b>highly resistant to corrosion<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and because of this property is used to contain corrosive liquids (e.g. sulphuric acid).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Occurrence:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is usually found in <\/span><b>ore with zinc, silver and copper<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and is extracted together with these metals.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main lead <\/span><b>mineral is galena<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (PbS).
