{"id":9779,"date":"2022-10-09T03:04:08","date_gmt":"2022-10-08T21:34:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=9779"},"modified":"2025-03-29T15:23:20","modified_gmt":"2025-03-29T09:53:20","slug":"rosetta-stone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/rosetta-stone\/","title":{"rendered":"Rosetta Stone"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Rosetta Stone is a large stone slab with inscriptions on it and is believed to be a piece of a bigger rock.<\/li>\n<li>It has inscriptions in three scripts, all of which convey a decree or public message.<\/li>\n<li>The decree is inscribed three times, in hieroglyphs (suitable for a priestly decree), Demotic (the cursive Egyptian script used for daily purposes, meaning \u2018language of the people\u2019), and Ancient Greek (the language of the administration \u2013 the rulers of Egypt at this point were Greco-Macedonian after Alexander the Great\u2019s conquest).<\/li>\n<li>This is similar to how in Ancient India, King Ashoka ordered stambhas or edicts that had messages of Buddha\u2019s teachings and news about victory in a war inscribed.
