{"id":98540,"date":"2026-04-16T13:57:29","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T08:27:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=98540"},"modified":"2026-04-16T14:22:57","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T08:52:57","slug":"dillenia-nagalim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/dillenia-nagalim\/","title":{"rendered":"Dillenia nagalim"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Dillenia nagalim Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A team of researchers recently discovered a new plant species in Manipur\u2019s Kamjong district, naming it Dillenia nagalim.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Dillenia nagalim<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>new plant species<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> discovered in <\/span><b>Manipur\u2019s <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kamjong district.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The name \u201c<\/span><b>nagalim<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d is <\/span><b>derived from \u201cNaga\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (referring to the indigenous Naga communities) and <\/span><b>\u201clim,\u201d<\/b> <b>meaning land<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, reflecting the <\/span><b>plant\u2019s origin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in a <\/span><b>region predominantly inhabited <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by the <\/span><b>Tangkhul Naga tribe<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> near the <\/span><b>Indo-Myanmar border.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The species is currently known only from a single location, making it <\/span><b>endemic to the area.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>small shrub <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">growing up to about 1.2 metres, with <\/span><b>bright yellow flowers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and distinctive <\/span><b>double-serrated leaves.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While it resembles related species such as Dillenia pentagyna and Dillenia hookeri, it differs in several features, including its <\/span><b>shorter size, larger flowers,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a <\/span><b>higher number of stamens and carpels.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The plant grows in <\/span><b>open tropical deciduous forests <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at altitudes of 250\u2013350 metres and flowers between May and June.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><b> local communities are familiar<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the plant.
