In India, this sector is even more dominant, contributing significantly to employment, livelihoods, and economic growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is the Informal Sector?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>informal sector<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> refers to <\/span><b>jobs and businesses that operate without formal registration, legal protection, or job security. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Workers in this sector usually <\/span><b>do not have written contracts, fixed salaries, or access to benefits like insurance and pensions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It includes activities such as street vending, domestic work, construction labour, and small-scale farming.
