{"id":9883,"date":"2022-10-11T07:54:52","date_gmt":"2022-10-11T02:24:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=9883"},"modified":"2025-03-29T16:01:06","modified_gmt":"2025-03-29T10:31:06","slug":"kurds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/kurds\/","title":{"rendered":"Kurds"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Kurds are members of a large, predominantly Muslim ethnic group.<\/li>\n<li>They speak a language related to Farsi and live mostly in a mountainous region straddling the borders of Armenia, Iraq, Iran, Syria and Turkey.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Treaty of S\u00e8vres:<\/strong>\u00a0After World War I, Western powers promised Kurds their own homeland in the agreement known as the Treaty of S\u00e8vres.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Treaty of Lausanne:<\/strong>\u00a0But later the Treaty of Lausanne, ratified in 1924, divided the Kurds among the new nations of the Middle East.<\/li>\n<li>Today, there are more than 30 million Kurds living across the region, with about half of them in Turkey.<\/li>\n<li>Iraq is the only country in the region to have established an autonomous Kurdish region, known as Iraqi Kurdistan.
