{"id":99099,"date":"2026-04-19T14:55:44","date_gmt":"2026-04-19T09:25:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=99099"},"modified":"2026-04-19T17:08:27","modified_gmt":"2026-04-19T11:38:27","slug":"pradhan-mantri-gram-sadak-yojana-upsc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pradhan-mantri-gram-sadak-yojana-upsc\/","title":{"rendered":"Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Cabinet has given its approval for the continuation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-III (PMGSY-III) beyond March 2025 upto March 2028.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a flagship <\/span><b>rural development programme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the Government of India, <\/span><b>launched on 25th December, 2000.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Objectives: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Providing <\/span><b>all-weather road connectivity<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to <\/span><b>unconnected habitations<\/b> <b>in rural areas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by way of a single all-weather road, to the eligible unconnected habitations of designated population size<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Eligibility Criteria of PMGSY Scheme<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The eligibility criteria under the PMGSY scheme were primarily based on <\/span><b>population size and connectivity status.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In <\/span><b>plain areas,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> habitations with a population of <\/span><b>500 or more were eligible<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, provided they were unconnected.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For regions in <\/span><b>North-Eastern states, Himalayan states, and Himalayan Union Territories,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the threshold was reduced to a <\/span><b>population of 250 or more,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as per the <\/span><b>2001 Census.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana is implemented by the following agencies\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">State Governments \/ UT Administrations will <\/span><b>designate Executing Agencies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to implement the programme.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the District level, the programme will be planned, coordinated, and implemented through <\/span><b>Programme Implementation Units<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (PIUs).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PIUs will be manned by competent technical personnel.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">State Governments will establish suitable linkages with <\/span><b>District Rural Development Agencies (DRDAs).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Funds will be released to DRDAs<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nodal Ministry:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Ministry of Rural Development<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2253247&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana is a flagship rural development programme of the Government of India, launched on 25th December, 2000.
