{"id":99631,"date":"2026-04-22T13:36:56","date_gmt":"2026-04-22T08:06:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=99631"},"modified":"2026-04-22T15:21:58","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T09:51:58","slug":"shekha-jheel-bird-sanctuary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/shekha-jheel-bird-sanctuary\/","title":{"rendered":"Shekha Jheel Bird Sanctuary"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Shekha Jheel Bird Sanctuary Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Shekha Jheel Bird Sanctuary in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh was designated as a Ramsar site, taking India\u2019s total to 99.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Shekha Jheel Bird Sanctuary<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Location: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is located in the state of<\/span><b> Uttar Pradesh.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a typical monsoonal <\/span><b>wetland of the Gangetic plains.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>fresh water perennial water body<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that came into existence after the formation of the <\/span><b>Upper Ganges Canal<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 1852 which flows adjacent to the lake.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It acts as a crucial <\/span><b>stopover on the <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/caf\/\" target=\"_blank\">Central Asian Flyway<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Vegetation<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The submerged <\/span><b>vegetation consists of Hydrilla verticillata<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Ceratophyllum demersum, Vallisneria spiralis, Potamogeton crispus and Najas.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Free-floating vegetation consists of Salvinia and Azolla, Eichhornia crassipes.
