{"id":9978,"date":"2023-04-23T08:30:45","date_gmt":"2023-04-23T03:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=9978"},"modified":"2025-03-29T16:37:01","modified_gmt":"2025-03-29T11:07:01","slug":"integrated-e-gram-swaraj-and-gem-portal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/integrated-e-gram-swaraj-and-gem-portal\/","title":{"rendered":"Integrated e-Gram Swaraj and GeM Portal"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Why in News?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>On the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day and <strong>marking 30 years of Panchayati Raj in India<\/strong>, Prime Minister will inaugurate an integrated e-Gram Swaraj and GeM portal for <strong>public procurement<\/strong> at the Panchayat level in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>The Objective of Integration:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The objective of e-Gram Swaraj\u2013GeM Integration is to <strong>enable the Panchayats to procure their goods and services<\/strong> through GeM leveraging the e-Gram Swaraj platform.<\/li>\n<li>It will help the entire buyer-seller ecosystem to flourish thereby giving <strong>a major boost to rural economy<\/strong> and entrepreneurship along <strong>with strengthening the Digital India Program.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Salient features<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Existing User base of GeM of nearly 60,000 is envisioned to <strong>increase to<\/strong> <strong>more than 3 lakhs <\/strong>in a phased manner.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bringing transparency in procurement<\/strong> by Panchayats by making the process digital.<\/li>\n<li>Encouragement of <strong>local vendors <\/strong>(Proprietors, Self Help groups, Cooperatives etc.) to register on GeM as Panchayats procure largely from such vendors.<\/li>\n<li>Panchayats will have access to <strong>doorstep delivery of quality-assured goods<\/strong> at standardized and competitive rates.<\/li>\n<li>Major <strong>Capacity building being taken by The Ministry of Panchayati Raj <\/strong>and GeM has also trained and appointed business facilitators in all States for handholding of the Panchayat users.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>E- Gram Swaraj platform:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The e-Gram Swaraj platform was launched on National Panchayati Raj Day <strong>in 2020.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It was designed to operate as a single window solution for all day-to-day functioning of the Panchayats from<strong> Planning to Online Payments.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1) What is Panchayati Raj?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Panchayati Raj is a system of local self-government in India.
